What is hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy is physiotherapy conducted in a warm pool environment utilising the benefits of heat, buoyancy and gentle resistance to provide rehabilitation to suit a variety of injuries and conditions including:
- Post orthopaedic surgery including joint replacements
- Post spinal surgery including laminectomies and fusions
- Neurological conditions including multiple sclerosis and fibromyalgia
- Musculoskeletal pain including lower back, neck and shoulder pain
Our Hydrotherapy services are available either in a group or individual setting.
What can I gain from hydrotherapy?
Your physiotherapist will supervise you in the water providing you with exercises aimed at improving:
- Range of motion
- Core stability
I’m not much of a swimmer. Is hydro still for me?
Being able to swim is not a pre-requisite for hydrotherapy. Most exercises are performed in the shallow areas of the pool with water up to around chest height.
You will be fully supervised by the physiotherapist who will stay close to you ensuring you are safe and comfortable while exercising.
Where are our pool facilities?
We use facilities off site to run both our 1-to-1 and class services.
Classes are run at Nepean Aquatic Centre in Penrith.
1-to-1 hydrotherapy is most commonly run at either Nepean Aquatic Centre or Ripples in St Mary’s depending on your convenience.
